Home Delivered Meals

Home Delivered Meals (Meals On Wheels)is a program specifically designed for eligible seniors who are homebound, unable to prepare their own meals, and/or those who are Medicaid eligible people as determined by Aging and People with Disabilities. Individuals accessing this service may have a short or long-term need for meals to be delivered to their home. For example, if a senior is unable to prepare their own meals due to a recent surgery, service can be arranged for a specified amount of time.

Home Delivered Meals provide nutritious meals which meet one-third of the recommended daily nutritional allowance. Deliveries of Home Delivered Meals vary from community to community and usually provide one hot meal on the day of delivery as well as frozen meals if determined to be eligible.

Home Delivered Meals are available throughout Umatilla and Morrow Counties. Gilliam and Wheeler County please refer to the map for service available in your community.

An assessment must be completed by CAPECO Area Agency on Aging staff and is provided to those eligible seniors, 60 years of age and older unless Aging and People with Disabilities has determined eligibility. Eligibility is determined on a twice yearly basis, or as needed.

Suggested donation per meals for seniors is $3.50, unless pre-authorized by Aging and People with Disabilities which provides Medicaid payment for the meal. Monthly statements will be sent to participants.

For more information or to request services, please call 541-276-1926 or 1-800-752-1139.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:

All volunteer drivers MUST provide copies of valid Oregon Driver’s License and Auto Insurance to CAPECO and must complete an RSVP Volunteer Application and background check.
