Business Services
CAPECO is committed to working with local employers to help build workforce skills. CAPECO offers employers a variety of services including on-the-job training, rapid response, and National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC).
On-the-Job Training
CAPECO provides reimbursement of up to 50% of trainee’s wages during the training period with the goal being unsubsidized employment. On-the-job training gives employees the opportunity to learn skills beyond what is available through pre-employment training. This activity is "here first, train later." Employers must attest that they would not have hired the individuals without the on-the-job training assistance.
CAPECO staff maintains contact with both the employee and the employer during training period to ensure a successful transition.
Rapid Response
Contact should be made to the dislocated worker liaison in case of mass layoffs or business closures to ensure a quick and coordinated response takes place.
National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
NCRC documents skill level in three areas - applied mathematics, reading for information, and locating information. Those who complete the NCRC assessment receive a certificate that signifies skill ability in a specific percentage of jobs. For example, if one earned a Gold certificate, that would demonstrate skill level ability for 90% of jobs. The NCRC validates workplace readiness, is promoted by the State of Oregon, and is portable to other states.
